8/30/2023 0 Comments Dinosaur sketch armOf the two, Barsboldia is the more controversial for a long time, the type fossil of this hadrosaur was considered dubious, until a re-examination in 2011 solidified its genus status. Very few people have one, much less two, dinosaurs named after them - so the Mongolian paleontologist Rinchen Barsbold can be proud to claim both Rinchenia (a close relative of Oviraptor) and the duck-billed dinosaur Barsboldia (which lived in the same time and place, the late Cretaceous plains of central Asia). Unlike most hadrosaurs, Bactrosaurus seems to have lacked a crest on its head, and it also had a row of short spines growing out of its vertebrae that formed a prominent, skin-covered ridge along its back.ĭmitry Bogdanov/Wikimedia Commons/CC BY 3.0īarsboldia (after paleontologist Rinchen Barsbold) pronounced barz-BOLD-ee-ah (Paleontologists believe that hadrosaurs and iguanodonts, which are both technically classified as ornithopods, evolved from a common ancestor). Thick trunk club-shaped spines on the backbone.Īmong the earliest of all the hadrosaurs, or duck-billed dinosaurs-roaming the woodlands of Asia at least 10 million years before more famous descendants like Charonosaurus-Bactrosaurus is important because it possessed certain characteristics (such as a thick, squat body) more often seen in iguanodont dinosaurs. Late Cretaceous (95-85 million years ago) As a reminder, we do not have to be good at drawing in order for it to be fun.Bactrosaurus (Greek for "staff lizard") pronounced BACK-tro-SORE-us This is just some of the early learning and brain development potential when kids draw. The dinosaur and egg poster was done by a 5 year old boy and his mom together. Drawing also stimulates the imagination of children. Adults have figured out that pictures hold meaning, but this is something that kids need to learn. As kids both create and explain about their drawings, they will be using language too, such as the words for colors and shapes, and entire sentences. Children can draw pictures to share with others. Just as we use words and language to communicate, we also use pictures to tell about experiences. Making mind-pictures is called visualization and it is an important thinking skill. The brain is making pictures in the mind as the body is making pictures on paper. It’s not so easy to see how brains are focusing and paying attention as well as coordinating movements using drawing tools. It’s easy to see how children are using the small muscles in their hands, fingers, wrists, and arms. When kids are drawing and coloring, kids are exercising both muscles and brains. Instead of paper, kids can try this on a chalkboard or an easel with felts or paint. Here are the steps that we used, with apologies for the missing photo that shows the arms and the legs. The website Draw with Rich had an amazing dinosaur. I really appreciate when the drawing is reduced to a set of easy steps. When it comes to drawing, it’s very challenging for me. Kids–and adults–do not have to be good at it!! It’s a form of PLAY. Did you know that drawing is a powerful activity for early learning and brain development? Not all kids enjoy drawing but dinosaurs are pretty appealing.

I wouldn't trade playing it for the world though.Īh, baseball: America's pastime and one of the sports that people in America aren't watching anymore. Either you are being blocked by a 300 pound man made out of muscle or being cut by a short running back diving at your knees. It is also one of the toughest positions to play. They are the ones who make the adjustments on the field to what the offense is throwing at them and is who the offense schemes around whenever they look at film. You have to be prepared for anything, even if it is the strangest things (who prepares for a wide receiver pass or a flea flicker every week?) When you see a linebacker, you will usually see somebody who is very bulky and is fast. As a linebacker, you have to not only memorize your own defensive scheme, but the offense that you will be playing next weeks' scheme. This is the position I play for my college, and I will argue to the day I die that it is one of the hardest positions to play in sports (kind of a hint for the end of the article). However, she has never gone less than four years in-between albums, so this 13 reference will stick around for quite some time. Since she has been using ages in songs since her first album, it is likely she will mention more on subsequent albums. When it comes to Taylor Swift, there are hardly any coincidences. Some songs peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.Ĭould that fact that Taylor Swift mentions 13 different ages in her music be a coincidence? It could, but it seems unlikely. The number 13 is also connected to her music. She was born on December 13 and turned 13 on Friday the 13. If you're a Taylor Swift fan, you probably already know what that means. If you've been paying attention to the numbers before the ages, you'll notice that this is the 13th age mentioned in a Taylor Swift song. I could have combined 7 and 9, and 87 and 89 since they're so close together, but I wanted to make a point. I didn't who I was supposed to be at fifteen." I've found time can heal most anything, and you just might find who you're supposed to be. "When you're fifteen, don't forget to look before you fall. But in your life you'll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team. "When you're fifteen and your first kiss makes your head spin 'round. This is life before you know who you're gonna be. And when you're fifteen, feeling like there's nothing to figure out. "'Cause when you're fifteen and somebody tells you they love you, you're gonna believe them. Since it's the name of the song, 15 is mentioned multiple times. She even mentions the name of her real life best friend at the time, who she is still friends with now. She talks about friendship, love, and dreams. This song is also on Swift's Fearless album. You don't have to look hard to find this one. 8/30/2023 0 Comments Skull and bones society movieWhile holding him as a prisoner, the United States capitalized on Geronimo’s fame among non-Indians by displaying him at various fairs and exhibitions. Geronimo and 27 other Apaches were later sent to join the rest of the Chiricahua tribe, which had been previously exiled to Florida. In 1886, after an intense pursuit in northern Mexico by American forces that followed Geronimo's third 1885 reservation breakout, Geronimo surrendered for the last time to Lt. However, since he was a superb leader in raiding and warfare, he frequently led large numbers of 30 to 50 Apache men. While well-known, Geronimo was not a chief of the Bedonkohe band of the Central Apache but a shaman, as was Nokay-doklini among the Western Apache. During Geronimo's final period of conflict from 1876 to 1886, he surrendered three times and eventually accepted life on the Apache reservations. Geronimo led breakouts from the reservations in attempts to return his people to their previous nomadic lifestyle. Reservation life was confining to the free-moving Apache people, and they resented restrictions on their customary way of life. Geronimo's raids and related combat actions were a part of the prolonged period of the Apache–United States conflict, which started with the American invasion of Apache lands following the end of the war with Mexico in 1848. military campaigns in the northern Mexico states of Chihuahua and Sonora and in the southwestern American territories of New Mexico and Arizona. From 1850 to 1886, Geronimo joined with members of three other Central Apache bands – the Tchihende, the Tsokanende (called Chiricahua by Americans) and the Nednhi – to carry out numerous raids, as well as fight against Mexican and U.S. 'the one who yawns' J– February 17, 1909) was a leader and medicine man from the Bedonkohe band of the Ndendahe Apache people. How it can chow oneself, these illogicalities are connected with Nils Bohr's bad knowledge of a classic mechanics. only with additional disturbance, not with full energy of an electron.ĥ) Steady orbits are considered equivalent, while the electron always, eventually, returns to steady basic orbit. Why it was not a success?įive illogicalities are evident at the first acquaintance to the theory of Bohr:ġ) Deviation from classic principles in definition of a total energy of an electron on orbit.Ģ) Error judgement that the electron at motion on orbit in accordance with the laws of a classic electrodynamics should emit energy.ģ) Allocation of steady stationary orbits of an electron not as a problem of a mechanics, but as a problem of no emitted electron.Ĥ) The frequency of radiation correlate with Δ E (not with E + Δ E), i.e. The approach of Bohr has appeared most successful, as he used the mechanism theory of a classic mechanics based on outcomes of experiments of the Rutherford, and it was the most exact path. The second part – creation of the theory – has appeared simply impracticable, as the empirical laws are not related to a physical reality and their causal essence is not detected. Thus, in development of a quantum mechanics the first part is made only: creation of the empirical laws. All hopes in creation any acceptable theory was connected with a mathematical formalism, the program of which most brightly was expressed by Feynman : ".Probably, the best way of creation of the new theory is to guess equations, not paying attention to physical analogs or physical explanation". Having refused from the mechanical program, the developers of a quantum mechanics have appeared in a very unpleasant situation, when, using the language, methods and analogies of a classic mechanics, they persistently convinced themselves and other in impossibility of fulfillment of its requirements. It should look so: "The problem of physical sciences is, that all physical phenomena to reduce to attraction forces, repulsion and to radiation, the value which one should depend on distance between interacting bodies, from their charge, mass, velocity and acceleration". But, taking into account fallacy of the Helmholtz concerning the theory of a delayed potential of Gauss, Weber, Gerber etc, it is possible now to see, that the mechanical program of the Helmholtz requires of principle additions. This program was stated by Newton, Huygens, Euler, Laplace. "The problem of physical sciences is to reduce all physical phenomena to forces of attraction and repulsion, the value which one should depend on distance between interacting points". That was accompanied by a rebuff from ideals of a classic mechanics, from its invariants, from ether, from the mechanical program, which one most precisely was expressed by the Helmholtz. It formed at once after a special relativity theory and simultaneously with a general theory of relativity. Hardly we can assume other way of development of science, as: observation, fact, experiment, empirical law, check and refinement of the law, creation of the theory, check and refinement of the theory. The quantum mechanics was formed as empirical science – on the basis of observations, facts, experiments. On the basis of research of radiation spectrums and absorption of photons there was a powerful math-physical formalism abounding with principles, guesses, postulates, interpretations, models and mysterious formulas, which one, strangely enough, work.Īll development of quantum mechanics and its broadest application in practice displays, that the researchers have found out the very relevant correlations of a material world, and also have learned to use them. The exciting pleasure of victories in discovery and becoming of a quantum mechanics has passed. So we looked for an RV Campground with an open space which was reasonably close. But the tire shops closed while we were sitting at the side of the road deciding what to do. The steel belts in a couple of our tires had slipped and we were still able to limp along, (although that was not really advisable). 5th wheel trailer with our Ford 350 XL Super Duty pickup truck, late on a Friday afternoon when we developed tire trouble. We were traveling along I-10 in Florida going west pulling a 38 ft. Our rates are the lowest around and sites available by the day, week or month. Come visit Florida and stay with us for a peaceful relaxing vacation. The camp is small and spacious with lots of shade trees. There is also 3 natural springs within a 10 mile radius, two of which have underwater cave diving. We are only a short 35 miles from Destin on the beautiful Emerald Coast. We are a pet friendly park and children are welcome. There is a club house which has a large screen TV, games, fishing supplies, RV parts and supplies and some groceries. Public access to the lake's best fishing locations is just a short distance from the park. The campground has a dock to fish off of and a boat ramp. Bass Haven is located on a Juniper Lake, which has fishing of all kinds especially bass). Games we poured hours into in years gone by often hold a particular fondness in our hearts with our experience often recalled through a distinctly rose-tinted lens. I am so grateful.Nostalgia is often a devilishly beguiling mistress. This version of Colossal Cave is definitely something I didn't ask for, but am truly grateful for, because it helped define my roots as a gamer in my 50's today. Our gaming world today is richer because of these games. There's Colossal Caves (the first real adventure game), Oregon Trail (the first RPG?), Eliza (the first AI interface), Firebird's Elite (the first open-world game), William's Robotron: 2084 (the first bullet hell game) and a few others I can't think of in my collection that are firsts. I can see new gamers not getting into this, but I do hope there's enough of us who support this new version. I think all gamers who played the original will love this version. This version will make me play it again until I get the perfect 350 score. The term 'XYZZY' has been with me since those old days, and this new version brings my gaming world full circle. Kaypro II gamer here, I played Ladder, and this, for many, many years before any other games came along. Maybe I didn't like the game, but they saw something from my review that made them think the game was right for them. My steam friends buy games even after I have given that game a negative review. Lastly, I think even a negative review brings attention to a game. People have different experiences and it's cool. What is the best game you have ever played? I'm 100% sure there's a negative review for that one too. People on Steam actually wrote a negative review for The Witcher 3. People disagree on everything, from favorite food to favorite movie. Someone new to VR may not like my review perspective. I do reviews based on someone who has thousands of hours in VR. Maybe some people prefer a review from a perspective of someone who isn't familiar with the prior game it's based on because they also didn't play that game as well. Artistic intent is valid to consider, but not necessary to review. Every person plays a game in the context of their prior experiences. My first were Sierra/Lucasarts but Larry 1 and the likes. Or i like this dish, and you don't.īut I am absolutely with Sargon on this one, in the end what they did 30 years ago, has no bearing on the game now, most would not even remember the game, as it's an entire generation ago.Īnd while i personally have that age, and adventure games being my favorite genre, i also never played pure text adventures, this one included so i can't also compare it. In the end i agree, they are just one persons opinion, i may find that one car very nice looking, and you don't. Not to be nitpicking but i picked 7 (and i probably can find more) over 4, including metacritic who bundles several reviews from writers and players, i think it's a representative. I think the reviewer just didn't quite get what we were going for. It's a great game that has meant a lot to millions of players. We understood our role as historians and wanted to preserve the vision of the original authors Crowther and Woods. I would imagine that somewhere there is a painter, who if asked to restore the Mona Lisa, would try to improve any flaws they observed in the painting. We treated this as a history preservation project, NOT as an attempt to create a Triple-A title. But there's no denying that it is based on an old game, and that the puzzles and design are taken from the original. The game looks and plays awesome and we are delighted with how it turned out. We felt a point and click interface, with our Sierra heritage, was the right interface for the game, and that Sierra fans would feel right at home. It was developed in the 70s, so we went for a 70s style of graphics in parts of the game. The game is a 50 year old game reimagined for today's market. I was disappointed with the review, but I understand why the reviewer saw it that way. 8/30/2023 0 Comments Aersf discountThe ballistic nylon looks more technical and has a slight sheen while the Gray is more lifestyle and matte. The main difference is in the look and feel of the fabric. A standard backpack uses 100D-600D fabric, so both of our fabrics are considered extremely durable and abrasion-resistant. Functionally for daily use, the difference in durability and water-resistance is negligible. The bigger the number, the thicker the fibers.
